Attorney Murat Batur, LLM. has extensive experience in individual and collective labour law, industrial relations and corporate compliance, and has provided strategic legal advisory services to large-scale organizations operating in various sectors.
He began his professional career at the United Nations. Following his experience at the UN Headquarters in New York, he worked at UNHCR, focusing on asylum and migration law. Thereafter, he served as legal counsel in an employers’ union with more than 250 members and in reputable law firms, working primarily on individual and collective labour law matters.
Throughout his career, he has provided legal advice and training to senior management, human resources and legal departments of national and international companies employing more than 10,000 employees. In this context, he has assumed various roles in the management of labour law risks, collective labour relations, ethics and compliance processes, industrial relations and the resolution of employment disputes. He has also taken part as an employers’ representative in the International Labour Conferences of the ILO held in Geneva.
Having held senior executive positions for many years in global companies, Mr Batur has provided legal support in the establishment of industrial relations structures, collective bargaining and collective labour agreements, disciplinary processes, labour lawsuits, ethics and compliance policies and the conduct of internal investigations.
His main areas of expertise include:
• Conclusion and termination of employment contracts: drafting and structuring employment agreements for senior executives, advising on termination processes, and handling labour litigation;
• Corporate compliance and internal investigations: conducting investigations relating to ethical breaches and allegations of misconduct in compliance with applicable laws, designing and implementing corporate compliance policies and preventing related risks;
• Industrial relations and dispute management: developing collective bargaining strategies, monitoring and implementing collective labour agreements, managing relations with trade unions and providing legal support in employers’ representation processes;
• Immigration and foreigners law: administrative procedures regarding the legal status of foreigners, as well as matters relating to migration and asylum law.
His academic background is strengthened by an LL.M. in Business and Trade Law from the Erasmus University Rotterdam Faculty of Law in the Netherlands and by his experience within the Legal Department of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, which together provide him with a distinctly international perspective.
